COVID-19 TRAVEL GUIDANCE FOR ENTRY TO ITALY FROM ABROAD

Italian Covid-related travel guidance features lists of Countries from which entry to Italy is subject to
different restrictions, as specified below:
A – Vatican City and San Marino: no restrictions apply.
B – Countries and territories with a low epidemiological profile, which will be identified by the
Ministry of Health. Currently, there are no Countries in this list.
C – Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark (including the Faroe Islands and
Greenland), Estonia, Finland, France (including Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, Reunion,
Mayotte and excluding other overseas territories outside the European mainland), Germany, Greece,
Ireland, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands (excluding other overseas
territories outside the European mainland), Poland, Portugal (including the Azores and Madeira),
Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (including the territories in Africa), Sweden,
Hungary, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Andorra, Monaco: persons travelling to
Italy from any of these Countries will need to compile the digital passenger locator form and present
the EU Digital Covid Certificate (Green Pass) providing proof that the person has either been fully
vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 in the previous fourteen days, has recovered from Covid-19 and is
no longer subject to required isolation or received a negative rapid antigenic or molecular testy result
taken with the last 48 hours before entering Italy. If the passenger is unable to do so, he/she shall be
required to self-isolate under medical supervision for a period of 10 days, after which he/she will be
required to take a (molecular or antigenic) swab test. There are exceptions to the obligation to present
a green pass.
Persons travelling to Italy from the United Kingdom shall be subject to the rules below.
D – Australia, New Zealand, Rwanda, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand: Persons
travelling to Italy from any of these Countries will need to inform the Prevention Department of their
local health authority that they have entered Italy, compile the digital passenger locator form, present
a negative (molecular or antigen) swab test taken within the last 72 hours before entering Italy and
self-isolate under medical supervision for 10 days, at their final destination in Italy, which they must
reach by private transport only or connecting flight (without leaving the airport transit area). After
the period of self-isolation, it is mandatory to repeat the molecular or antigenic test. There are
exceptions to the obligation to take a swab test before entering Italy and to self-isolate and repeat the
swab test at the end of the self-isolation period.
Canada, Japan and the United States: passengers travelling to Italy from these countries are
required to notify their arrival to the Prevention Department of their local health authority, compile
the digital passenger locator form and present a Covid-19 green pass issued by the competent local
health authorities and considered of equivalent value (vaccination with vaccines authorised by EMA;
recovery from Covid-19 and completion of self-isolation requirements; negative rapid or molecular
test results). There are exceptions to the obligation to present a green pass.
E – All other Countries not included in the above lists (including Brazil, India, Bangladesh and
Sri Lanka to which the special guidance below applies): there are no restrictions on travel to Italy
