SRS Visitor Guide
Driving rules and hand-held electronic devices
Driving: Traffic safety laws are strictly enforced at SRS. Obey posted speed
limits and traffic signs on SRS roadways and parking lots. If you become lost,
stop where it is safe to do so and ask for directions or call 3-3911 from a Site
landline or 803-725-1911 from a cell phone.
Vehicle Access to SRS: Visitors bringing a vehicle on SRS property must
have in their possession a valid driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance and
proof of registration. All visitor vehicles are subject to inspection.
Personal Property Inspections: Visitors’
vehicles will be inspected at the Site
barricade by Centerra-SRS and are subject
to additional inspection by K-9 units. When
you enter SRS control points, Centerra
officers must touch your badge to confirm
your identification. Any hand-carried items
are also subject to inspection.
Hand-held electronic devices: SRS is a hands-free site. Pull off the road
when it is safe and park before using any device that may cause distraction.
To protect workers and government property, SRS maintains a high level of
security. At SRS, you will encounter Centerra-SRS Law Enforcement Officers
in numerous locations. Understanding our security practices will help your visit
go smoothly.
Any person convicted of a security violation is subject to federal penalty or
punishment. Visitors to SRS who encounter security problems must advise
their SRS host/escort.
Identification (ID) for Badging: All visitors must be badged through SRS
Visitor Control, located in Building 703-46A. Individuals must provide one of
the following current ID documents: U.S. Passport, REAL ID-compliant Driver’s
License, Enhanced Driver’s License, HSPD-12 PIV Card or DoD Common
Access Card (CAC) - except CACs with blue bar.
Visitor’s who do not possess one of the above IDs will have to present two
forms of ID before a badge can be issued. Current photo ID in the form of a
driver’s license or state or federally-issued ID is mandatory; the other form
should contain your legal name (e.g., Social Security card, certified birth
certificate, voter registration, etc.). Note: If you use a student ID with photo,
you must also present a certified birth certificate and Social Security card.
For a complete listing of required IDs, go to: http://www.srs.gov/general/
tour/acceptable_id.pdf or call the SRS badge office at (803) 952-2343.
Escorts: Visitors must be accompanied at all times by an escort with an
appropriate security badge when entering a security area. Please stay with your
escort at all times. Visitors are not required to be escorted on the general Site
Property Protection Area (PPA). Your site point-of-contact will identify these areas
if applicable.
Security On-The-Job: Personal and Government cell phones, tablets or other
electronic devices shall not be connected to SRS computers for any reason.
Cell phone charging stations are available in select SRS facilities.
